Boiler Engineer Job Profile and Description

The role of a Boiler Engineer is to service and maintain high-pressure industrial gas, oil and solid fuel boilers and other supporting apparatus in an appropriate manner and in compliance with the necessary safety norms. Individuals for such profiles are mostly required to work at factories, commercial buildings, warehouses and shopping malls as a part of the maintenance department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Routine servicing and maintenance of the boilers and auxiliary equipments.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of proper pressure in the boilers.
  • Maintaining and regulating the temperatures within the buildings and ensuring proper air-conditioning and heating.
  • Following all safety and precautionary measures while working in the boiler rooms.
  • Detecting any malfunctions in the boilers and immediately repairing the same.
  • Keeping repair and service maintenance records.
  • Supervising the works of assistant boiler engineers and organizing necessary training for them.
  • Keeping records of meter and gauge readings and fuel consumption of the boilers.

Skills and Specifications

  • Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to detect technical malfunctions in the boilers.
  • Sound understanding of all safety regulations and norms for working in boiler rooms.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of assistants.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree or diploma in engineering or any other related field of study from a certified college.
  • Post Graduate degree or a diploma in automobile engineering or any other related discipline with 2 – 3 years experience as a boiler engineer and a license to work with stationary equipment.
