A computer engineer job description is to create and keep in good condition computer programs. Computer engineers work in vast areas. This is because in this day and age, computers are the backbone of every organization. Computer engineers are divided into two major categories. These are the application engineers and the systems engineers. Application engineers create programs that are to be used to perform precise tasks while system engineers create programs that are to be used in the running of computer systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create computer programs.
- Maintain the created programs by ensuring that they are fully functional.
- Analyze any given assignment before venturing into it to ensure that it is well understood.
- Draw up charts to show how the designed program would work
- Outline the program.
- Instruct programmers on how to install the various programs that are designed.
- Troubleshoot the developed programs for errors and other malfunctions.
- Configure computer systems.
- Install and maintain various computer programs and systems.
- Meet with client in order to understand the nature of computer work to be done
- Determine the budget of the prospective project.
- Ensure that the set deadlines are met while achieving the anticipated results.
