A number of universities recognize the need to offer courses designed to complete the degree of many who had stopped their college education after getting employed or have started their own business. This college is headed by the Dean of Continuing Education who is himself or herself concurrently holding an executive position in a corporate setting. The faculty of the college is also composed of teachers who hold various positions in many industries. It is for this reason that most classes in a College of Continuing Education are held at night. This may seem like a post graduate college which also holds many of their classes at night, but is just an undergraduate college.
Dean of Continuing Education Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the various colleges and faculty heads to provide special dispensation in the hiring and screening of part time educators for the college.
- Offer select courses provided in other colleges such as BS in Accounting Commerce, Economics, HRM, Public Administration, Industrial Engineering and other courses that are more suited to executives who have not completed their earlier college education.
- Depending on the college earlier attended but unfinished, accredit the course units that have been taken before if they are still relevant in the new courses.
- Accredit the experience of students in their careers to augment the subject units in the Continuing Education courses.
