Geothermal Production Manager Job Profile and Description

Operating a geothermal power plant involves a team of geothermal power plant operators under the Geothermal Production Manager who is responsible for managing the resources dedicated to the operations of a geothermal power generating facilities. The main objective is to ensure that the rated power output of the plant is achieved and sustained with the least downtimes or operational problems and in accordance with the plant’s operating standards as well as state’s safety regulations

Geothermal Production Manager Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee geothermal plant operations and maintenance to ensure compliance with applicable operating and safety standards or regulations.
  • Verify proper equipment operation by conducting routine inspection of injection well fields.
  • Supervise power plant operators and support staff in geothermal power plants and well fields.
  • Develop and implement approved operating plans and schedules for geothermal operations.
  • Develop and implement approved budgets for geothermal operations.
  • Identify and evaluate plant equipment, procedures and process inefficiencies to isolate opportunities to improve cost efficient operation of electrical equipment, controls, process control methodologies and upgrade of quality standards.
  • Monitor plant operations with programmable logic controllers.
  • Initiate and negotiate interconnection agreements with other utilities.
  • Obtain permits for approved construction and upgrading geothermal power substations when required.

Geothermal Production Manager Skills and Specifications

  • Must have highly developed observation skills to anticipate and detect operational anomalies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with a team, as well as verbal and written communication skills in English.

Geothermal Production Manager Education and Qualifications

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in the sciences preferably electrical and chemical sciences is preferred
  • 2-3 years experience in related work in an advantage
