Health Service Manager Job Profile and Description
A Health Service Manager’s job entails providing management services in a health care centre. The main responsibility of a health service manager is to commission and provide health care within the committee through general practitioner, community health services, and hospital management. Health service managers liaise with non-clinical and clinical staff while conceiving the local circumstances and demands of political policy. There is a wide range of managerial positions within the health services, which include clinical management, operational management, information management, facilities management and project management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing the cost, quality and delivery of health care services.
- Negotiating with non-medical and medical staff internally and people in external organizations like voluntary groups, the private sector or social services.
- Supervising the management of an organization, service area or service unit daily.
- Working effectively for ensuring value for money and quality of service to patients.
- Managing professional, clerical, administrative, and clinical staff.
- Collecting the information, analyzing and using it to plan and manage systems and projects.
- Managing the development, appraisal, new recruitment, and selection of staff.
- Implementing new directives and policies.
- Generalizing data for monitoring and quality assurance purposes.
- Managing financial data and other information using computers to analyze and evaluate performance.
- Planning and implementing important changes for improving service delivery.
- Writing reports, attending meetings, and delivering presentations for a wide variety of audiences.
- Purchasing supplies and equipments, and organizing the store.
- Attending committee meetings and representing the opinions of teams and departments.
- Maintaining finances and setting budgets within tight constraints.
Skills and Specifications
- Able to communicate effectively with health care professionals, service agencies, relations of patients, patients, and physicians.
- Good clinical skills like documentation of progress notes, mental health assessments and pharmacological management.
- Should actively participate in community meetings related to various health care issues.
- Ability to work with personnel and limited resources.

Education and Qualification
- Masters degree in the Health and Medical services related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in the Health and Medical services related field.
