The key accountability of a Maintenance Helper is to assist in the upkeep of a facility. Such helpers are widely recruited by commercial, residential, industrial facilities and other service centres. Individuals of this profile mostly work under the supervision of a manager and are required to follow all standard operating procedures of the company. Maintenance helpers also undergo training before commencing work with an organisation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of all areas of a facility.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the work areas.
- Inspecting all electrical units and systems and ascertaining the proper functioning of the same.
- Keeping a record of all the day to day maintenance activities undertaken in a facility.
- Maintaining service cycle records.
- Reporting defects, damages and malfunctions of any kind to the supervising authority.
- Complying with all corporate policies and the Occupational Safety and health administration rules (OSHA) while working.
- Effectively completing all tasks as assigned by the supervising manager.
- Coordinate work processes with other internal departments of the establishment.
Skills and Specifications
- Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to identify technical defects in electrical units and other equipments in a facility.
- Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines and coordinate work functions with fellow workers.
Education and Qualifications
- High School degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
- Should possess a valid work license as a maintenance helper and have about 2 to 3 years of experience in a related field.
