A Podiatrist has the task of assessing and treating the problems related to that of the foot and knee. They mostly specialize in working on the infections, defects and injuries that occur on the foot and lower leg. The Podiatrists mostly manage the lower extremity diseases and carry out different types of minor in-office procedures. They are also associated with a number of surgeries which require anesthesia. The Podiatrists mostly offer preventative care to special community groups which are highly vulnerable.
Podiatrist Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assessing and treating of the abnormalities and diseases which are related to the area of the foot and lower limb in people.
- Providing treatment to the high-risk patient groups who run greater risk of amputation;
- Providing adequate amount of advice and making required referrals.
- Using the therapeutic and surgical techniques needed to treat the leg and foot related issues.
- Prescribing and fitting different types of aids and appliances;
- Delivering education on foot health mostly to people who are homeless, elderly, children etc.
- Working with other medical professionals like the doctors, nurses etc with full amount of coordination.
- Understanding the mechanics of foot and the entire body for the successful movement of the body.
- Using a range of equipments, dressings for carrying out with the treatment process with complete success.
