Power Plant Technician Job Profile and Description
A Power Plant Technician is primarily accountable the safe maneuvering of the equipments and units in a facility, and is also largely responsible for conducting maintenance activities. Persons in this position are also referred to as power plant operators. Individuals for such profile require possessing a blend of technical and administrative expertise to ensure that all functions are seamlessly conducted.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting regular maintenance checks on all the machinery and equipment in a facility.
- Detecting technical faults and defects and ensuring the immediate repairs of the same.
- Testing all equipments and machines like drills, loaders etc. to ascertain that they are functioning appropriately.
- Complying with all corporate policies and the Occupational Safety and health administration rules (OSHA) while carrying out all work processes.
- Planning maintenance activities in a manner that the output and production of the plant is not hampered or disrupted.
- Maintaining a record of all repair and overhauling conducted on the plant machinery.
- Appropriately using and handling all repair tools and equipments.
Skills and Specifications
- Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage time and complete all delegated work within the specified time.
- Sound understanding of all industry safety norms and regulations.
Education and Qualifications
- High school degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
- Bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree or diploma in mechanical engineering or any other related field of study with about 2 to 3 years experience of working as a power plant technician.
