A Psychiatrist’s job entails diagnosing, treating various patients on different health issues, performing evaluations, and formulating treatment plans, which include medication, prescription and psychiatric care.
Skills and Specifications
- Participating in the diagnosis as well as in treatment of admitted patients.
- Completing physical, neurological, and mental examinations of patients.
- Treating medical, psychiatric, neurological, and surgical problems of patients.
- Consulting patients, their families, attorneys, teachers, other medical professionals, and other attracted persons in interpreting clinical findings.
- Conducting family and group therapy sessions.
- Preparing diagnostic reports for law examiners, judges, government officials, physicians, school officials.
- Providing professional witness evidence in administrative hearings and courts of law regarding the patient’s status or disability income claimants.
- Directing and instructing burses, supporting staff, residents in care, and attendants in treatment of patients.
- Prescribing medications for providing treatment to patients with psychological and physical disorders.
- Attending and participating in teaching and general staff conferences.
- Receiving advanced training in psychiatry or neurology field.
- Researching cognitive disorders in order to identify treatment methods.
- Delivering speeches to professional groups regarding child guidance, mental hygiene, and other topics.
