A pub chef also known as a chef de partie is a cook in a pub. He is in charge of running only that specific area. Although being a chef is a toughprofession, its rewards are worth the effort. A chef is involved with the preparation of food, selection of menus and recipes to be used.

A pub chef job duties and responsibilities are very important to the successful running of a pub restaurant. They include:
- Making food orders and all the kitchen necessities. This ensures that the pantry and the kitchen are well stocked at any given time.
- Oversees all the kitchen and culinary staff.
- Supervises to make sure that every thing is done as well as it should be done.
- Creating of menus.
- Writing of food recipes that are to be used.
- Dealing with any complaints that could arise in the course of working in the kitchen.
- Cook when necessary i.e. when there are may orders, or when they want to.
- Selection and recruiting of personnel.
- Assigning the staff different tasks that should be done.
- Ensure that sanitary conditions are kept at all times.

Education and Qualifications
For a pub chef job education and qualifications, are not a necessity. However, a diploma or degree in the Hospitality Industry would be a big plus. Experience is a must have though. There are no two ways about it.
