A restaurant manager is responsible for ensuring that a restaurant operates profitably and efficiently. In addition, the manager helps maintain the ethos and reputation of a restaurant. It is the duty of the restaurant manager to maintain high food and service standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties performed by a restaurant manager are varied and mostly depends on what kind of restaurant it is. A restaurant manager’s job duties and responsibilities include the following:
- The restaurant manager is responsible for the restaurant’s business performance
- Performs an analysis of the restaurant’s profit and sales level
- Prepares reports at the end of every shift and week
- Develops and executes plans related to department profits and sales
- Plans and executes staff development plans
- Plans and coordinates all restaurant menus
- Responds to customers queries and complaints
- Handles restaurant staff recruitment, training and motivation
- Meets and greets the customers and also organizes table reservations
- Advises customers on wine and food selection
- Ensures that all employees adhere to set uniform standards.
- Manage restaurant staff during shifts and provide feedback
- Coordinate all operation within the restaurant especially during shifts
- Maintain health, hygiene as well as safety standard in the restaurant
- Check stock levels and order for new supplies
