A sales marketing executive is either part of or leads a project in the field of corporate marketing for a particular company, within a designated area. He has to formulate strategies that will help him build a brand and has to promote it to the target customer and client.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sales marketing executives must know about the different marketing and advertising techniques and strategies which can be implemented in projects
  • They have to follow marketing trends of the society and read data on consumers taste and other information
  • They have to undertake market research in order to identify their target consumer, what they need and accordingly relate it to the company’s objectives
  • They have to study the demographic details of the consumers and based on that form marketing strategies
  • They make lists of targeted resellers and have to be in regular touch with them, either through phone calls, mails or personal visits
  • They must keep proper records of sales and other figures related to marketing of products and services
  • They need to have a contacts with ad agencies and public relations firms

Skills and Specifications

  • A sales marketing professional must have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • He must driven, confident and enthusiastic about his work
  • He should have good negotiation skills and must be persuasive
  • These jobs may require field work, so he must be hardworking and physically fit
  • Good networking and interpersonal skills are also important in this line of work
  • Team work and good interpersonal skills are helpful


Education and Qualifications

In this field, one needs to have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in commerce and an MBA with specialisation in sales and marketing. One may also go for a mass communication course in public relations and marketing.
