The job of Security Personnel at an installation is a highly responsible position which ensures the safety and security of residents/inmates, valuable materials and accountable documents. He/she will function under the charge of a Security Supervisor as part of an overall Security Detail.
Duties and Responsibilities
Some of the important duties are:-
- Be alert during duty tenure.
- Report for duty 15 minutes before tenure to receive briefing of Security Supervisor.
- Familiarize himself with all security drills and security procedures laid down in the Standing Orders.
- Maintain duty registers and log books prescribed for the Duty Post.
- Verify and take charge of Room/Cabin keys from previous Guard.
- Prevent access to any unauthorized persons inside the premises/installation.
- Politely answer any inquiries of visitors and direct them to the appropriate authorities/staff inside.
- Direct visitors with problems to the concerned authorities.
- Check all personnel and vehicles for identity before allowing entry.
- Fill in the log of entry and exit of personnel, materials, vehicles and stores.
- Maintain Gate Pass Register for outgoing materials and stores.
- Record and permit entry of stores after verifying from Purchase Officer.
- Monitor behavior of suspicious persons, movement of vehicles and stores.
Skills and Specifications
- Be always alert and ready to deal with security emergencies.
- Have Nose for suspicious characters, movements and dangerous situations.
- Possess good memory to remember all the codes and standard security procedures.
Education and Qualifications
- Minimum High School graduate.
- Computer Literate if dealing with security codes, passwords for entry/exit.
- Training in Fire Fighting, First Aid and Life Saving drills.
- Previous experience in security unit is an added advantage
