A secret service agent is a member of the any secret service organization and he has to work in either protection or criminal investigation depending on his assignment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- A secret service agent is responsible for working in the secret service organization and he has to either protect or assist in criminal investigations.
- He may be assigned to protect top level executives of the government, which may even include the President and the Vice President, as well as important presidential and vice presidential candidates.
- He may be assigned with the task of protecting visiting foreign diplomats and other dignitaries.
- He may be assigned to take part in criminal investigations.
- He may have to investigate financial crimes, computer related attacks on the telecommunications system of the country and any violations of security in the country.
- Whatever be his job assignment, he will have to report to his superior on a regular basis.
- He has to coordinate with other secret service agents in the performance of his duties.

- The ability of not being noticed is a skill he has to possess or master to be successful in this profession.
- The ability to follow the orders of superiors accurately and perfectly is very important as well.

Education and Qualifications
A person who wants to become a secret service agent should possess a Bachelor’s degree. Alternatively, he should possess at least 3 years work experience in law enforcement or criminal investigation or both.
