Solar energy has become a very popular and common source of alternate energies. However, it has certain different features because of which specialised knowledge is required for its making and installation. Solar engineer is the person who is responsible for taking care of these functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- A solar engineer plans, executes and documents project work according to given objectives
- He visualises and performs tests under supervision of a project manager to reach given project objectives
- Such experimental work may include substrate cleaning, coating, printing, thermal evaporation, device encapsulation, and device testing
- He has to collect, analyze and arrange data in a proper format on a daily basis
- He has to maintain laboratory notebooks and logs in accordance with company’s policies and legal requirements
- He has to prepare and submit technical reports, help in making project progress reports and present progress as determined by the project manager
- He is responsible for the general maintenance of laboratory and electronics equipment
- He must also regularly monitor supplies and inventory, and keep the stocks full
- Safety procedures must be followed while testing and handling chemicals
Skills and Specifications
- Good communication skills both written and verbal is important written and in English
- He must be able to participate in and contribute towards technical discussions or issues
- He must be innovative, result-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in a team
- He should be able to meet targets and deadlines
- Experience in prior project work in an industry environment is helpful
Education and Qualifications
A solar engineer must have a graduate degree in Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline. Hands on experience in polymer chemistry, device fabrication, electrical device testing, and materials characterization is also helpful. A background in flexible organic electronic materials and devices will be an advantage
