The point person of most upscale hotel service is the Concierge who ushers hotel guests into the various services available in the hotel, direct porters and bellhops in assisting hotel patrons with their luggage to and from their rooms and generally resolve any issue or concern about the hotel service. They are tasked to take messages, arrange or give advice on transportation, business services or entertainment, or monitor guest requests for housekeeping and maintenance.
Travel Hotel Concierge Duties and Responsibilities
- Make reservations for dining at the hotel restaurants or sponsored events and obtain tickets for them
- Provide tourist information about local landmarks, shopping, dining, nightlife, and sporting / leisure destinations.
- Make arrangements for sightseeing and ecotours.
- Receive, store, and deliver luggage and mail.
- Pick up and deliver items, or run errands for guests.
- Arrange for interpreters or translators for hotel patrons as required
- Plan and coordinate special occasions, parties, and meetings which may require booking celebrities and musicians
Travel Hotel Concierge Skills and Specifications
- Must always be well-groomed, customer-oriented, with a pleasing personality, a cheerful and courteous disposition
- Must have sufficient familiarity with geographies, nationalities, travel agencies, airlines and other travel related information
- Must have excellent verbal communication skills in English
- Can manage own time with little or no supervision
Travel Hotel Concierge Education and Qualifications
- A high school diploma is a must.
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar concierge or receptionist function is an advantage
