Visitor Services Information Officer Job Profile and Description
The Visitor Services Information Officer or agent is often employed in landmark tourist locations such as historic towns, theme parka, museums, forest or wildlife preserves, safaris and zoological gardens, or other places of interest frequented by local and foreign tourists. Their main task is to know the place and maintain the informational and promotional brochures and collaterals for guiding tourists visiting any of these areas.
Visitor Services Information Officer Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide first hand information at the counter or conduct public outreach of educational and informational programs to acquaint potential visitors on any tour schedules, special activities for kids and adults, research opportunities, private occasions and parties and government events in the assigned visitor areas
- Coordinate with administration officers to ensure that the supply of informational and promotional materials is always available and replenish on time.
- Perform routine daily activities in support of the visitor center inclusive of security reviews, site and pertinent equipment maintenance and HR recruitment as required.
- Provide senior management with incident reports when they occur within the premises of the visitor center and the site.
Visitor Services Information Officer Skills and Specifications
- Must have excellent communications skills and interpersonal skills
- Must have complete knowledge about the visitor center and the site being promoted
- Must have strong organizational and clerical skills as well as computer literacy to handle basic word processing and data entry functions.
Visitor Services Information Officer Education and Qualifications
- A high school diploma with 3-5 years of experience in public-facing positions is basis.
- A college degree in public administration or tourism is an advantage
