The wedding coordinator is an individual who is charged with the duty of facilitating, mediating and managing a wedding on behalf of a client. A wedding coordinator is also referred to as a wedding planner or a wedding consultant. The coordinator’s job duties include planning, managing, coordinating and executing all aspects of a client’s wedding.

Duties and Responsibilities

Wedding coordinator job duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Assists the client in selecting suitable wedding décor and theme
  • Assists the clients in selecting a suitable venue
  • Ensures that the client’s vision for their wedding is effectively executed
  • Creates the wedding schedule
  • Is involved in the designing of the wedding invitations
  • Draws up the guest list
  • Prepares the wedding budget
  • Plans the wedding menu
  • Liaises with service providers such as caterers and entertainers
  • Makes wedding venue reservations
  • Decorates the wedding venue
  • Purchases and makes flower requisitions
  • Hires the DJ and the band
  • Selects and hires the caterer
  • Selects and books keynote speakers
  • Hires the photographer
  • Makes transportation arrangements
  • Hires valets and parking attendants
